Pediatric surgery 2019

Also this year our doctors in FReetown will operate on many children. The mission begins with “screening”.

FREE SURGERIES TO BE PERFORMED AT CHOITHRAM MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

A team of German Paediatric Surgeons, who have been visiting Sierra Leone since 2010, are planning another visit from the 8th February to 23rd February 2019 to perform various surgeries free-of-charge.

Patients, age 18 years and below, will be screened at the following centres:

-Choithram Memorial Hospital

-Aberdeen Women’s Centre (Dr. Sandra Lako);

-Ola During Children’s Hospital (Dr.Nellie Bell);

-Connaught Hospital (Dr. Aiah Lebbie) and

-Lion for Lion health facility at Waterloo village.

These institutions will screen patients and send their final lists for scrutiny and final evaluation.

Some of the patients will be referred directly to Choithram Memorial Hospital at Hill Station, Freetown, where the operations will be performed for free.

The spectrum of conditions to be treated include General Surgeries like inguinal and umbilical hernias, hypospadias, undescended testes, congenital and acquired contractures and malformations of the GI tract.

Hydrocephalus and myelomeningoceles are usually excluded.
