Also this year our doctors in FReetown will operate on many children. The mission begins with “screening”.
Here’s the call:

1st Feb. 2019

A team of German Paediatric Surgeons, who have been visiting Sierra Leone since 2010, are planning another visit from the 8th February to 23rd February 2019 to perform various surgeries free-of-charge.

Fraud and theft

We hereby inform you that we have separated from our partner “barefoot women solar engineers”. The reason for this is the fraud and theft of 20,000 € provided by the BMZ for the EDUREC project.
In the last months the barefoot women were also not willing to do everything necessary to get the money back. On the contrary The process was extremely disguised.

We therefore advise that cooperation should be carefully examined or dispensed with. Further information can be obtained from the Bintumani Board of Directors.

Donation celebration – a complete success

On 12.10.18 we celebrated: 20 years of engagement: Germany – Sierra Leone.
The cultural part was designed by 4 artists. Many thanks to them:

Helus Hercygier and Alexandra Gotthardt (
Susanne Riedel (

All guests were enthusiastic and want to visit the artists in other places as well.

The second occasion of the evening was to win donations for our new training project EDUREC.

In return we also received many vouchers and items and raffled them off.
Thanks to the donors: BMW at Kaiserdamm, Phaesun (solar technology), Hairdresser Hirsch, Optician Sievers, BücherboXX-Berlin, Eitech, Weltladen in der Gedächtniskirche, H.Bertz, N.Paß, Dr. Till Wolfram.

With the large donations of: Foundation Gertrud Maschke, Dr. Pehle, Dr. Aja Klemm and Carlchristian von Braunmühl of the Kruger Foundation and many small donations we have received a sum of about 13,000 euros.

Operation for Mohamed

Bintumani D-SL helps Mohamed

During the pediatric surgical intervention of our doctors in spring 2018, a little boy, Mohamed, was introduced to them.
He has considerable malformations of the face. Since an operation in Sierra Leone is not possible, we have tried to get him to Germany.
The employees of “Löwe für Löwe” (Brunswick/Brigitte-Village) provided all necessary documents for a trip to Germany in Sierra Leone.
Mrs. Brigitte Amara-Dokubo from “Löwe für Löwe” has picked up Mohamed in Sierra Leone and brought him to Germany. Thank you Brigitte!
Meanwhile, after a successful five-hour operation, Mohamed is well. We wish him another good healing process.

EDUREC can start

We are happy!

After a “precise” application procedure under the supervision of “bengo-Engagement Global”, the approval has been obtained.
Until the end of the year we, barefoot women solar Engineers and Bintumani D-SL, can use the amount of 50000,00 € for the construction of an EDUREC training centre.
Training rooms and workshops (electrical, wood, metal) are set up for training as a “specialist for renewable energies”.

With momentum into the new year

We wish all readers and supporters a healthy and successful year 2018.

We have ambitious plans for the year 2018.

We will start our “Pediatric Surgery Service” in Sierra Leone in January.

As in previous years, Dr. M. Wright and his eight-person team will once again eliminate deformities in young patients and thus enable them to live a more comfortable life.
The up to 70 operations are also used again to train colleagues from Sierra Leone in the corresponding surgical techniques. The two nurses Joan and Marie from “Lion for Lion” are once again supporting them in the field of logistics this year.

We wish all of you a good success!

Also in January, Dr. J. Ladipoh and N. Hoffmann organize the distribution of the objects sent in the last container. The container arrived in Freetown in the last days of December.

We will visit our partners, the “barefoot women solar engineers”, to evaluate the last project from 2017. How are the people in Meni Curve, who have had light through solar systems since March 2017? Does everything work? What’s the next step?

Discussions with barefoot women on the establishment of an information and training centre for renewable forms of energy will be continued.

We will devote further time to the organisation “Klin Salone”. The current unstructured state is to be terminated by a newly formulated statute, new elections and training in accounting. Thoughts on an idea of reusing “waste” will have to be discussed.

Visits to various other NGOs working in the cooperation between Germany and Sierra Leone will be continued in Sierra Leone in January.
