Prostheses can help maintain a vocational perspective by enabling people with amputations to perform their work and pursue their vocational goals. A prosthesis can enable a person to stand again, walk and reach, which is important to perform many types of work. Prostheses can also be specially adapted to meet specific occupational needs, such as for craftsmen, musicians and athletes. A prosthesis can also help a person to be more confident and independent, which can enable them to look for work and pursue their career goals. By using a prosthesis, a person can also improve their skills and abilities, which can help them find better jobs and advance their careers. Prostheses can also help improve self-esteem and mental health by promoting a sense of normality and inclusion. This, in turn, can improve the possibility that a person will go out and find work and be successful. In engaging with people in Sierra Leone who are living with limitations due to various disabilities, we aim to help through different interventions.
